John L. Myers joined APA in 1993, serving as a partner in the firm known as Augenblick & Myers from 1993 to 2003. John has led projects in school finance, teacher quality, alternative teacher pay, state and local policy, and facilitation. Prior to joining APA, John spent six years as the Education Program Director for the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), served as executive assistant to the Governor of Kansas, and served six years as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives. John previously served as the founding Co-Director of the National Association of Charter School Authorizers and as Director of the Colorado School Finance Project. He has worked as a state policy advisor and technical assistance provider for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards since 1997.

John holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Kansas State University, and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Buena Vista College.

John is currently enjoying his retirement but continues to consult on a number of APA projects.
