The Southwest Teacher Union Reform Network (SW-TURN) is a regional network of NEA and AFT locals. Leaders of the SW-TURN locals assemble twice per year to discuss and explore issues related to education reform and the role of teacher unions in advancing the cause of public education, and additional meetings are held at the state level. States in SW-TURN include Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah. Since 2009, APA has acted as the financial agent for this network, which has involved writing and managing grants to fund the organization. APA also provides research and data analysis support and assists with the planning and facilitation of the regional meetings.
