Hawaii Teacher Compensation Study

In 2014, APA was hired to work with the Hawaii State Department of Education and the Hawaii State Teachers Association to prepare a compensation study to be used as part of negotiations. The study included a comparative analysis of Hawaii’s compensation levels to comparison districts from across the country; analysis of the flow of teaching staff into and out of teaching in Hawaii; and an examination of the comparable wage information for educators in Hawaii. The report compared compensation both through the lens of cost-of-living differences and comparable wage information. The report was presented to the parties prior to negotiations.
