APA is evaluating the impact of the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and University of Denver (DU) Right 4 Rural project funded by the U.S. Department of Education Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Program. The goal of the Right 4 Rural program is to improve gifted and talented identification of traditionally underrepresented students in rural communities. The grant seeks to support educators in their instructional practice to increase achievement for gifted and talented students and rural student populations overall. APA is using a quasi-experimental design to measure the impact of this program on gifted and talented identification. As part of the evaluation, APA documenting the coaching, training, and other supports being provided. This data is being collected through focus groups, case studies, surveys, coaching logs, and descriptive data analysis. APA also supports CDE and DU in reporting and administration of this federal grant.
