John L. Myers has been an educational consultant since 1993. He is currently Vice President of Augenblick, Palaich and Associates (APA) and is owner of the consulting firm, the JL Myers Group. APA is a firm specializing in education finance policy that succeeded Augenblick & Myers, Inc. (A&M) in 2003. From 1993-2003 Myers was a partner in the in A&M. He joined A&M after six years as the Education Program Director for the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). Prior to working with NCSL, Myers served as executive assistant to the Governor of Kansas and served six years as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives. In addition to his legislative experiences, Myers has worked as a newspaper reporter, a Boy Scout executive and a community education coordinator.

Myers previously served as the founding Co-Director of the National Association of Charter School Authorizers and as Director of the Colorado School Finance Project. He has worked as a state policy advisor for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards since 1997.  He holds a bachelor's degree from Buena Vista College and a masters degree in educational administration from Kansas State University.

He is married to Judy Myers and they have three adult children.
